More Information About Northeast Region, FL

The Northeast region of Florida provides visitors miles of beautiful beaches in addition to quaint historic towns. The Northeast Florida region is divided from Georgia to the north by St. Mary's River and by the Atlantic Ocean to the east. The western counties are rural, but the largest city is Jacksonville.

Many people visit Amelia Island State Park which is an easy drive from Jacksonville. The park protects over 200 acres of untouched wilderness along the southern tip of Amelia Island. Beautiful beaches, salt marshes, and coastal maritime forests provide visitors a glimpse of the original Florida. Although the view from the park is breath-taking in itself, most of the visitors come for the fantastic fishing opportunities.

Jacksonville represents all that's good about the big city: culture, nightlife, restaurants, and a riverfront along the St. Johns River. Twenty miles of Atlantic Coast belong to the communities of Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, and Jacksonville Beach. Atlantic Beach's Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park has a 60-acre freshwater lake that provides trails for walking and fishing.
